In the political arena we have various levels of government all having divisional boundaries of authority and sovereignty. As a living person I too am gifted some degree of authority and sovereignty, but innately so. I make decisions and hopefully take accountability for them. Taking accountability validates my authority over certain areas of coverage.
We often use terms like “free will” and describe ourselves as “free moral agents” but I prefer to view myself as a sovereign agent who exercises authority as a birthright. Now I have a political front with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, directly with the mediator Christ Jesus.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle … 1 Timothy 2:3-7 NKJV
11 … pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, 15 which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen. 1 Timothy 6:11-16 NKJV
I have heard atheists say that they do not believe in God but if He did exist, they would hate him. Then they provide all their reasons why. I think they have this attitude ultimately because God does not uphold double standards. As Christians let us exercise our given authority to eradicate double standards personally conducted.
14 as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:14-16 NKJV
